Clearwater Mall is home to 229 shops and is a premier shopping destination in the North West suburbs of Johannesburg on the rapidly expanding residential corridor along Hendrik Potgieter Drive at the intersection of the main East West arterial Christiaan de Wet Road.
It’s a destination for the whole family filled with world class shopping, excellent entertainment with a full cinema complex by Nu Metro with 3D technology and several up market restaurants, fast food outlets and coffee shops. There are two big jungle gyms for small kids to play on – one in front of McDonalds which is open to anyone and one in front of Spur which can be used by Spur customers.

GOLD REEF CITY (Ormonde / JHB South)
– Theme Park
Gold Reef City is an amusement park in Johannesburg, South Africa. Located on an old gold mine which closed in 1971, the park is themed around the gold rush that started in 1886 on the Witwatersrand.
There is a museum dedicated to gold mining on the grounds where it is possible to see a gold-containing ore vein and see how real gold is poured into barrels.
There are many attractions at Gold Reef City, including water rides, roller coasters and the famous Gold Reef City Casino. The live shows of Idols South Africa are filmed live in the “Hippodrome”, a large auditorium based in the park. Gold Reef City is located to the south of the Central Business District off of the M1. It is also the site of the Apartheid Museum.
APARTHEID MUSEUM (Ormonde / JHB South)
– History Museum
The Apartheid Museum opened in 2001 and is acknowledged as the pre-eminent museum in the world dealing with 20th century South Africa, at the heart of which is the apartheid story.
The exhibits have been assembled and organised by a multi-disciplinary team of curators, film-makers, historians and designers. They include provocative film footage, photographs, text panels and artefacts illustrating the events and human stories that are part of the epic saga, known as apartheid.
The museum is a beacon of hope showing the world how South Africa is coming to terms with its oppressive past and working towards a future that all South Africans can call their own.
MAROPENG & STERKFONTEIN CAVES (Sterkfontein)
– World Heritage Site
Welcome to Maropeng (the official visitor centre of the Cradle of Humankind) and the Sterkfontein Caves. Maropeng means “returning to the place of origin” in Setswana, the main indigenous language in this area of South Africa. The Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site is an easy drive of about an hour from Johannesburg or Pretoria. Our ancestors have lived in this area for more than 3-million years. By coming here, you are coming to the birthplace of humanity. Welcome home!
RHINO & LION PARK (Kromdraai)
– Nature Reserve
The Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve is a privately owned, non-subsidized game reserve, covering approximately 1 200 ha on the typical Highveld of Gauteng. The reserve is situated in the “Cradle of Humankind”, a declared World Heritage Site.
The reserve was founded in 1985 by Ed Hern, a well-known stockbroker, with the aim of preserving this beautiful area for private leisure. Prior to this the farm was utilised as a dairy and agricultural produce farm.
The Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve gates are open Tuesday to Friday from 08h00 until 17h00 on weekdays and 08h00 until 18h00 on weekends and public holidays. We are open certain Mondays, please see “Latest News” below. Day visitors are more than welcome to visit and picnic or braai at the Reserve without additional charge. We are situated in the Cradle of Humankind due North of Krugersdorp on the Kromdraai Road, the D540, 45 minutes from both Johannesburg Central & Pretoria.
